Uplifting our community partners

As the dust settles from Tuesday's election and we prepare to engage in the fight for our freedom locally and across the nation, we know this is a hard time for those who care deeply about our civil rights and civil liberties.

In this moment, we encourage you to look to the pillars of support we have here in Vermont and to show up for them however you can—by volunteering, making a donation, or spreading the word about their work.

These are just a few of the dozens of organizations that have helped make Vermont a more vibrant, connected, and resilient community. Now more than ever, we must come together to support one another and call into being a more compassionate, equitable, and just state where everyone can thrive.

Rutland Area NAACP & Windham County Vermont NAACP

Our racial justice partners at the NAACP chapters in central and southern Vermont play a critical role in fostering community and building the social, economic, and political power of people of color in Vermont. Coupled with their work to support Vermonters who face racial discrimination and prejudice, the ways they empower and uplift communities of color in our state make them an invaluable resource here.

Migrant Justice

As a long-standing advocate for migrant workers in Vermont, Migrant Justice plays a vital role in advancing the rights and dignity of immigrants who are often targeted by racist and xenophobic rhetoric and policies. Their contributions to fostering community, expanding economic justice, and defending basic human rights will be even more essential under a second Trump administration.

Out in the Open

By connecting rural LGBTQ+ people and building community, visibility, knowledge, and power, Out in the Open is a critical partner in transforming the economic, social, and political conditions of our state. Their ongoing work to foster a multi-issue, multiracial, and majority working class coalition of advocates is essential to building meaningful power for rural LGBTQ+ people in Vermont.

Vermont Access to Reproductive Freedom

Since 2002, this all-volunteer abortion fund has raised money to provide grants to people seeking abortion services. We should all be free to determine our own life course, and this financial support can make a difference in whether someone who needs an abortion can access one.

End Homelessness VT

As the threat of new restrictions on our civil rights and civil liberties on the federal level take shape, we cannot abandon Vermonters who are currently suffering due to our state’s decision to defund its emergency housing amidst a historic housing crisis. End Homelessness VT is a grassroots organization doing essential on-the-ground work to support people experiencing homelessness in our state.
