Juneteenth 2022 Statewide Celebrations

Juneteenth, short for June nineteenth, commemorates the day when enslaved people in Galveston, Texas learned of their freedom in 1865 - a full two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed. This day marks the end of slavery in the United States and is considered the longest-running African American holiday.

This weekend there are events happening across the state to honor and celebrate Juneteenth. Many events include free food, music performances, speakers, and more. We've compiled a list of some of them below. If you know of an event we have missed, please send an email to [email protected] and we will add it.
