The ACLU of Vermont has been busy working to enact a slate of policies this legislative session that will help shape a more inclusive, equitable, and just Vermont, but we cannot do it alone. To ensure Vermont is a place ALL of us feel valued and welcomed, we need your voice in the legislative process.
That's why we are inviting you to join us in a digital week of action from February 22 to 26.
With legislators working remotely due to COVID this year, we have new opportunities to participate in the process of democracy from the comfort of our own homes.
Each day will have a different action you can take from home that will help us make real progress on the following topics:
- Racial Justice in the Criminal Legal System – Requiring data collection on race and ethnicity to remedy disparities in our legal system.
- Police Reform – Removing the presence of armed cops in schools.
- Voting Rights – Making vote-by-mail a permanent fixture of Vermont's elections.
- Reproductive Freedom – Enshrining abortion rights in Vermont's Constitution through the passage of Proposition 5.
Our toolkit will provide you with all the language, graphics, and materials you need, and you can decide when and how often to participate throughout the week (although we would love to have your participation every day!). We will also provide advocacy training so that you know all the tips for advocating with legislators on issues you care about.
Together, we can advance a bold and ambitious agenda to protect the rights of all Vermonters and confront systemic racism and inequality.
